Product FAQs

Are your products natural?

The fragrances we use are synthetic fragrances - we don’t use essential oils (as lots of essential oils aren’t safe for use around pets and can be more damaging to the environment). The base ingredients we use for our Room & Linen Mists, Wax Melts and Candles are all natural. For our wax based products we use soy and coconut wax, for Room & Linen Mists, we use a distilled water base rather than a silicone based product which most other brands use.

How safe are your products?

All of our products are produced in line with the EU IFRA (International Fragrance Association) standards. Which govern the safe use of fragrance in consumer products like candles, perfumes, cosmetics, detergents and other scented goods. These standards govern which ingredients and in which percentages fragrances are safe to be used. European standards in this area are some of the most strict and restrictive in the world, so we feel confident that we are bringing you safe to use household products. All products have any allergens listed on the back, so if you or anyone in your household have any known allergies, please be sure to check this before using.

Are your products safe to use around pets?

Animals can have allergies like humans can, so we feel it would be irresponsible for us to market our products as ‘100% pet safe’ - as any pet (like any human) does have the potential to have an allergic reaction to certain fragrance ingredients. This includes both synthetic fragrances and essential oils.

We also never test on animals as we are and always will be a cruelty free brand. None of our finished products or raw materials are tested on animals - we have always worked hard to source only cruelty free ingredients. This is another reason we don’t advertise as pet safe - because none of our products have ever actually been tested on pets. So although the ingredients and the percentages in which we use them, are not known to be toxic to pets, our non animal testing policy means that we couldn’t say with 100% certainty that your pet won’t have some kind of reaction, so feel it would be irresponsible to advertise or state facts otherwise.

Please also be wary that many pets have a heightened sense of smell compared with humans. So although a fragrance may not be physically harming your pet, please be thoughtful of the fact that if a scent is over bearing for you, it will likely be even more so for your pet. This can be alleviated by using scented products in open spaces or with doors ajar, rather than in small spaces with doors closed when your pet is present.

We do have dogs ourselves and lots of customers who use our scents around pets with no issues. As long as your pet doesn’t have a known allergy (if they do you should always check the ingredients before using!), and you store them out of reach so that they can’t eat them (as this would likely upset their stomach!), they should be fine to use around your furry friends. Also bear in mind that pets are often very inquisitive, so can easily be burned with candles and tea lights! We recommend either using an electric burner which is much safer for use around kids and pets, or if using candles, make sure they’re somewhere out of reach.

One last thing - we would advise not to use any scented products - not just ours, we mean any scented products at all - in close proximity to reptiles or birds. These types of pets have much more sensitive respiratory systems and so scents can be very aggravating for them. You can use scents in different rooms to where your birds or reptiles stay, but we wouldn’t advise to burn fragrances close to their cages or in small spaces with not much air flow.
